Children 18 and younger can get free lunch and an afternoon snack this summer at Fruit Valley Elementary School in Vancouver.

The Simplified Summer Food Program for Children, which is paid for by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provides meals at no charge on weekdays July 9 through Aug. 10.

The program is administered by Educational Service District 112 and is not a Vancouver Public Schools program. Free activities for children will be offered before each meal, starting at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Meals will be served in the Fruit Valley Elementary cafeteria, 3410 Fruit Valley Road. Lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m., and afternoon snack will be served from 3 to 4 p.m. Children do not need to attend Fruit Valley Elementary. Meals must be eaten on site.
