INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Richard’s Kid, the 7-year-old heavy favorite from the barn of Bob Baffert, ran away from four opponents for a 714-length victory at in the $70,000 Prove It Stakes on Friday night at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Richard’s Kid took the lead in the first half-mile, stretched the lead to 212 lengths on the final turn and continued pulling away throughout the homestretch, covering 1-3/8 miles in 2:16.43.
A son of Lemon Drop Kid owned by Zabeel Racing International, Richard’s Kid paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.10. Dynamic Host was a distant second and paid $2.80 and $2.10. Balladry was third and paid $2.20 to show.
