Family members will hold a candlelight vigil Tuesday to celebrate the birthday of Benjamin Fulwiler, who died April 28 after colliding with a C-Tran bus while on his bicycle.

Benjamin would have turned 12 Tuesday.

The "celebration of a birthday and a life," begins at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Main and East 27th streets, where Benjamin was fatally injured.

"His parents would like to invite the community to come out," said Jennie Stanavech, friend of Benjamin's mother, Jennifer Kanna.

Stanavech has served as family spokesperson since the accident.

Benjamin's sister, Brooklyn Newcomb, 17, and his aunt, Stephanie Kanna, are organizing the vigil, Stanavech said.

Vancouver police continue to investigate the cause of the collision. The bus driver, Deborah Knox, 59, remains on paid administrative leave pending the police and a C-Tran investigation.

Stanavech maintains a memorial page for Benjamin at http://facebook.com/BenjaminFulwilerMemorialPage.
