Pets of the Week

The Columbian
Published: June 12, 2012, 5:00pm

Belle is an 8-year-old female Labrador retriever. She is blind and has been for a few years now so she does a great job using her sense of smell and sound to live a perfectly happy life. Belle will do much better in a quiet home with children older than age 10. If you have other dogs, it would be best for Belle to meet them first. She will need a fully fenced yard so she doesn’t wander off.

Orchid is a sweet 12-year-old female domestic shorthair dilute tortise shell. She came to the shelter as a stray and is now ready to start fresh. Orchid would prefer a home with children older than age 10 since she doesn’t like to be held for long. She will also need a slow introduction to any new furry friends that she might be living with.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
