Quake drill doesn’t shake students

Battle Ground — The ground didn’t really shake, but more than 60 students from Battle Ground and Prairie high schools pretended it did. The earthquake drill took place at the old Lewisville Middle School, with 40 students from disaster leadership classes working in search-and-rescue squads or medical teams while 23 others were made up like victims (fake blood, bruises and mangled limbs) and really gave the part their all — moaning, screaming and crying for help. Rescuers practiced calm searching during a power blackout, conducting triage and transporting the injured and staying in radio contact with the command center.
