The Association of Washington Business has recognized seven Washington employers that have demonstrated their commitment to community service, including three with ties to Southwest Washington.

Vancouver-based Mac-Kay & Sposito, Inc. was awarded for “projects that mobilize people into action,” primarily for its support of Dozer Day 2011. Spokane-based Sterling Bank, which recently acquired the Vancouver-based First Independent Bank, won an award for “recognizing volunteerism.” Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, Inc., based in Longview, was one of two winners in the category “helping people in need.”

The awards were presented Tuesday evening at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane during the association’s annual spring meeting.
