A tractor-trailer rig hauling 90,000 pounds of recycled cardboard overturned this morning on Highway 14 in western Skamania County, causing quite a mess, authorities said.

The rollover crash happened at 8:23 a.m. about 10 miles east of Washougal, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Ryan Tanner. The driver of the rig, who was heading westbound, suffered minor injuries and did not have to be transported to the hospital.

As of 11 a.m., the highway was still only allowing a single lane of traffic through the area, as crews were working to remove the street debris. A towing company also was on scene.

The cause of the crash wasn't yet known, Tanner said. The rig also struck a telephone pole.
