The Special Olympics Tip-a-cop event at several Applebee’s restaurants raised money Thursday evening for Special Olympics.

The event took place at 13 Applebee’s restaurants, including four Vancouver locations. Clark County Sheriff’s Office staff and Battle Ground Police officers assisted by Special Olympics athletes greeted customers, cleared tables and received donations from guests.

Law enforcement reported Friday morning that the event was a success.

Sheriff Carter Harris, who was recently sworn in as the young honorary Sheriff of Clark County as part of the Chief for a Day program, visited all four locations in his uniform and greeted athletes, guests and law enforcement officers.

All the proceeds benefited Washington’s Special Olympics program.
