The crash occurred about 2 p.m. where 78th passes below Interstate 5, snarling traffic for about an hour, said Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Alex Schoening.

Sheriff’s Deputy Chuck Kerr said Lisa Cooper, 51, of Vancouver had taken the northbound I-5 off-ramp and was turning west onto 78th when her Ford Taurus collided with an Ford Explorer being driven east on 78th by Edgar Romero, 37, of Vancouver.

Kerr said both vehicles ran red lights before the crash.

Cooper and Romero were both transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life threatening. Two passengers in Romero’s vehicle, Helida Pena, 39, and Citlalli Flores, 16, both of Vancouver, were also transported to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
