Columbian readers love their fathers.

Washougal’s Best Dad. Pictured: Ron Wysaske of Spokane. Submitter’s comments: “Ron Wysaske is the best Daddy. On his last visit, he said to me, about raising my sons, ‘You’re doing a good job.’ The highest compliment I could ever hear is that I might come close to being as good a parent as he was in raising me — that’s all I could ask for. I love you, Daddy.”

My Daddy has a Perry (the Platypus) shirt on. I like this photo because when we are outside, we get to play chase or tag.”

This photo was taken when I was about 3 years old while we both sat in front of our record player blasting old jazz blues music. Thank you Daddy for everything.”

Marilee & Boyd McCall. Pictured: Boyd McCall, 75 (28 in photo), Marilee McCall (2 in photo). Submitter’s comments: “This photo shows my Dad and I when I was being introduced to Princess, a Shetland pony that resided at my grandfather’s ranch in Kalama. I like it because it shows me ready to go, holding on to the horse, but grabbing a fistful of my Dad’s shirt at the same time — and my Dad is letting me do it myself, but quietly has his arm around my back. Thanks, Dad! I love you. You’ve always believed in me, and you’ve always had my back.”

My Fathers Hands. Submitter’s comments: “I took this photo recently when my father fell and broke his back. He will be 100 years old on December 12, 2012. I thought this was most likely the end and realized as he was laying in the hospital bed and I was sitting by his side how much I loved his hands. Those hands who held me as a baby, who held my hand as a child might soon grow cold. I just had to have a picture of them. Many times in my father’s old age, the Grim Reaper has come calling. He seems to have a miraculous power to heal and it is like he goes through a metamorphosis and emerges with a new life. He healed and is back in his own apartment. He is a wonderful man and father. He was born in New York and has seen so much in his lifetime. He once interviewed Albert Einstein as a reporter in New York. My father has been a lifelong Socialist and still gave lectures in his 90s.”
