Letter: Give money back to the taxpayers

“Your word is your bond, Philip,” said my parents and grandparents when I was young, trying their best to impress upon me how important it was to always abide by what you promised. Sadly they have passed, and I guess so has the saying. Especially when there is a Battle Ground schools bond of $5 million leftover of other people’s money, and there is a chance to keep it.

What I have found out, however, is two things. What the price is in Battle Ground to walk away from your word — and that price is $5 million. And, as a community, we often complain about those “tell you anything to get elected and never follow through” politicians in Olympia and Washington, D.C. Well, not all those politicians are in Olympia and Washington, D.C. Some are our neighbors.
