Regarding the June 12 Columbian editorial — “Action needed on gas prices; Cost in Washington highest among 48 contiguous U.S. states” — I was happy to see The Columbian and Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., step to the plate over the recent price gouging by the oil companies. As usual when it comes to the consumer vs. Big Oil, our U.S. representative to Congress had little to say.
The oil companies blamed the Cherry Point Refinery fire that created a severe gasoline shortage. Where were the gas lines? I hope the collusion by the oil companies results in some jail time. Well, we all know that will not happen. Again, we as consumers are just expected to shut up and take it.
