CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago White Sox have optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Stewart to Triple-A Charlotte and recalled right-hander Dylan Axelrod from the minor league club.
The move announced Tuesday comes one day after Stewart was roughed up in a 12-3 loss to the Cubs. Stewart allowed four homers and six runs over 5 2-3 innings in his first start this season. He is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA in 18 appearances.
Axelrod was with the White Sox from April 27 to May 5, going 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA in three appearances -- including one start.
