EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Allyson Felix will run in the 100 and 200 meter sprints at Olympic trials, giving herself a chance for two medals in London but forgoing the 400 meters, on which she had focused much of the past year.
The combination should be less taxing on Felix, who tried the 200-400 double last year at world championships and finished second in the 400 and third in the 200.
Felix had initially signed up to run in all three events but on Tuesday was listed as “scratched” in the 400.
Felix has won the world championship three times in the 200 but has finished second at the Olympics twice.
Qualifying for the women’s 100 at Olympic trials starts Friday.
