Ferrer routs Sijsling, reaches Unicef Open semis

DEN BOSCH, Netherlands (AP) — David Ferrer beat Igor Sijsling of the Netherlands 6-0, 6-1 on Thursday to reach the semifinals of the Unicef Open grass-court tournament.

The top-seeded Spaniard raced to a 6-0, 5-0 lead before Sijsling finally won a game in front of his home crowd. Ferrer closed out the match in just under 43 minutes.

Ferrer will play Benoit Paire after the Frenchman beat Ito Tatsuma of Japan 6-3, 7-5.

In the women’s draw, eighth-seeded Nadia Petrova overpowered No. 3 Dominika Cibulkova, winning 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour.

Petrova will play the winner of the match between Kirsten Flipkens and Roberta Vinci in the semifinals.
