Letter: Lower tax and more will buy locally

The Columbian
Published: June 19, 2012, 5:00pm

In response to Billie Strong’s June 18 letter, “State losing battle for revenue,” first of all, why does Strong want the Oregon clerks to ask if customers are Washington residents? It is none of their business. We are sending revenue to Oregon. Why? We are being overtaxed on our liquor in Washington state.

Raise the taxes, lose revenue, it’s that simple. Lower the taxes, increase the revenue. It really is that simple.

I would like to know how our state got by with such a big tax increase.
