Sounders U-23s top Timbers — An 88th-minute goal from Fernando Monge on Friday lifted the Seattle Sounders U-23s to a 4-3 win over the Portland Timbers U-23s in a Premier Development League match at Kiggins Bowl.
Mark Sherrod, Erik Hurtado and Cam Vickers scored for Portland. The Sounders scoring included an own goal from Portland, a penalty kick from Aodhan Quinn and a Sean Morris tally. Seattle (6-2-3) is third in the Northwest Division. Portland (6-3-1) is in fourth place.
Women's match a 2-2 draw — Two late goals earned Emerald City FC from Seattle a 2-2 draw with the Portland Rain on Friday at Kiggins Bowl. A steal by Hockinson's Aurora Bodenhamer set up a 25-yard shot by Strong for the second goal.
The team from Seattle earned the draw with a pair of goals inside the final 20 minutes.
