Letter: Boldt has shown independence

When I was growing up, I was taught that the way this country worked was for people to run for elective office, get elected and then answer to the people. With the recent chastisement of an elected official, Commissioner Marc Boldt, by the Clark County Republican Party (non-elected officials), it seems the whole balance of power has shifted from those elected to those who became the power of the political party (not elected by the populace). This seems to say that the party is the power in the government and not the elected official. I think this stinks. I am voting for Boldt for Clark County Commissioner, District 2.
