Pleasant Valley students a hit with history

Pleasant Valley -- Four Pleasant Valley Middle School students who were finalists in the National History Day competition met Sen. Maria Cantwell on June 13 in Washington, D.C. At the state level, Jennifer Manzhura and Olga Hincu's History Day presentation, "The Nat Turner Revolt," received second place in the junior group exhibit category. Katelynn Hong-Clancy and Stephanie Massart's presentation, "Osama bin Laden: From Follower to Revolutionary Jihadist," received second place in the junior group performance category. Both groups advanced to the National History Day competition on June 9 in College Park, Md. Their teacher is Irene Soohoo.
