The deadline for registering to vote in the 2012 primary and special election held Aug. 7 is July 9 for those who have previously registered in Washington and July 30 for those who have never registered in the state.

Washington residents who have never registered to vote in the state can do so in person at the County Elections Department, 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Registering again in Washington state is required for those who have changed their name or who have moved to Clark County from another county since the last time they voted. If registering online, do so before midnight July 9; if registering by mail, make sure the registration form is postmarked by July 9.

Those changing their address who have only moved within the county can call the Clark County Elections Department at 360-397-2345 or email the department at elections@clark.wa.gov to update their information. The deadline to do that is also July 9.

Citizens can pick up mail-in voter registration forms from various community locations including libraries, school registrar offices and city halls.

A ballot listing all candidates and measures for the Aug. 7 election is available to view on the Clark County Elections Department website, which is also the link to register to vote.

Military and overseas ballots were mailed to voters late last week. Clark County alone mailed out 1,737 of those ballots.
