Rupp wins 5000 for second trials title



EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Galen Rupp won the 5,000 meters in 13 minutes, 22.67 seconds Thursday night for his second title at the U.S. track trials.

Rupp, an Oregon native, also won the 10,000 on Friday at Hayward Field to make the Olympic team. The former Oregon Duck plans to run in both events in London.

Bernard Lagat, the American record holder in the 5K, finished second in 13:22.82, and Lopez Lomong earned the final spot on the team for the London Olympics, finishing third in 13:24.47.
