Cubs RHP Wells outrighted to minors

CHICAGO (AP) -- Right-handed pitcher Randy Wells, designated for assignment earlier this week by the Chicago Cubs, has been outrighted to Triple-A Iowa.
Wells was 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA over 28 2-3 innings in Chicago, working as a reliever and fill-in starter.
The five-year veteran started 82 games for Chicago in the previous three seasons, going 27-30 with a 4.05 ERA. In 2009, he was 12-10 with a 3.05 ERA in 27 starts.
