Medlin’s 26 leads Utah St. over San Jose St. 71-61

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Preston Medlin scored 26 points as Utah State beat San Jose State for the 10th straight time, 71-61, Thursday night.

Brockeith Pane added 14 points and six assists for the Aggies (16-14, 7-6 Western Athletic), and Mitch Bruneel had 12 points.

James Kinney led San Jose State (9-20, 1-12) with 24 points. Wil Carter added 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Keith Shamburger had 13 points.

Utah State led by as many as 10 points in the first half before settling for a 33-30 halftime lead.

San Jose State took its only lead of the game, 34-33, when Carter hit two free throws early in the second half. But Preston responded with a 3-pointer, setting off a 15-2 Aggies run that put the game away. Preston had nine points during the spurt.

Utah State was outrebounded 34-21 but shot 55 percent from the floor and committed just eight turnovers.
