SAO PAULO (AP) — Coach Mano Menezes says Brazil has a strong Olympic team and will be in good position to win its first soccer gold medal in London.

Menezes says Brazil will head to London with a “quality group” of Olympic-aged players who will give the team a good chance to contend for the title. The Olympic tournament is the only significant soccer competition Brazil has yet to win.

Among the players set to make the trip are Neymar, Paulo Henrique Ganso, Alexandre Pato and Lucas.

The coach said at least one of the three over-23 players he will pick likely will be a defender.

He made the comments to Brazilian channel SporTV while inspecting Brazil’s hotel in London on Friday.

Brazil will host the World Cup in 2014.
