PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say a motorcyclist from Oregon died in an accident with three trucks and two passenger vehicles on Interstate 10 near Plaquemine.

Trooper Russell Graham identified the victim as 64-year-old Phillip Rizzo of Lincoln County, Oregon.

Authorities say the accident occurred on the Atchafalaya River bridge at the Whiskey Bay exit around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Graham says the crash occurred due to traffic congestion caused by a dog that had gotten loose on the Interstate.

He says the driver of an 18-wheeler, 61-year-old James Bennet of Jacksonville, La., was booked with negligent homicide and reckless operations.

Rizzo was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office.

None of the other drivers were injured.
