SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The third and final group of about 180 psychiatric patients will move in mid-March to new rooms at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem.
The $280 million, 620-bed complex replaces run-down buildings on hospital campus.
The Statesman Journal reports (http://is.gd/a9Honw ) dozens of old structures were demolished, including portions of the hospital’s J Building, used in the filming of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” But historically significant sections of the building, including a distinctive tower, have been preserved.
