Fourcade of France wins biathlon sprint at worlds

RUHPOLDING, Germany (AP) — Martin Fourcade of France won gold in the 10-kilometer sprint at the biathlon world championships on Saturday.

Two-time Olympic champion Emil Hegle Svendsen of Norway was second and Carl Johan Bergman of Sweden earned the bronze.

Fourcade covered the distance in 24 minutes, 18.6 seconds to finish 15.1 seconds ahead of Svendsen. Both missed two targets. Bergman was 17.7 seconds back.
