Warehouse fire challenges Spokane fire crews

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane firefighters had their hands full with a two-alarm blaze Friday night in a warehouse filled with paper products and vans with gasoline in the tanks.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire Chief Bobby Williams tells The Spokesman-Review (http://is.gd/BEnTq1 ) that the 5,000-square-foot Insight Distributing warehouse contained not only five fueled vans but restaurant paper supplies stacked 20 to 30 feet high.

Because of poor visibility and the potentially unstable stacks, crews backed out to fight the fire from the outside. That was also challenging since the building’s exterior is metal.

There’s no immediate estimate of the cause of the fire or extent of damage.
