HONOLULU (AP) — Morgan Grim hit the go-ahead layup with seven seconds remaining as Utah State beat Hawaii 61-60 on Saturday night.

Brockeith Pane scored 20 points and Preston Medlin added 19 for the Aggies (17-14, 8-6 Western Athletic), who clinched the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament in Las Vegas and will play fifth-seeded Louisiana Tech on Thursday.

On his game-deciding basket, Grim dribbled into the lane, eluded a Hawaii defender and banked in a short shot.

The Rainbow Warriors (15-15, 6-8) turned the ball over on their final possession. Josten Thomas had 19 points to lead Hawaii, which has lost five straight and will be the No. 6 seed, facing third-seeded Idaho in the first round.

Utah State tied it at 59-59 on Medlin’s baseline jumper with 59 seconds remaining. Thomas hit a free throw with 37 seconds left to put Hawaii up one.
