Ore. can collector finds a grenade instead

SWEET HOME, Ore. (AP) -- Authorities say a man looking for cans behind the grandstands at Sweet Home High School came across a grenade instead.
The Albany Democrat-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/AtEPll ) a State Police bomb squad detonated it Friday and judged from the small explosion that it was likely a training device, not a live grenade.
The paper says the local police reported that the man who found it pulled it out of the dirt and laid it on the ground.
When members of the bomb squad arrived, they dug a hole and reburied it, with a detonation cord wrapped around.
Police said it appeared the grenade had been in the ground a long time, and they weren't sure how it got there.
