YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — An inexperienced Yakima, Wash., snowmobiler whose adventures have led to a search and rescue callout two weekends in a row has reportedly promised rescue leaders it won’t happen a third time.

Most recently, Yakima County Search and Rescue found the man and his 16-year-old son on Monday after they spent a cold night outdoors in the Darland Mountain area.

Sheriff’s Sgt. George Town is the search and rescue coordinator. He says the latest search effort was begun after the two were reported overdue Sunday night. Town says they got stuck and had to spend the night in a snow cave. They were hiking out Monday in good condition when they encountered a search team.

Town says the father was involved in a Search and Rescue callout the previous weekend in the Chinook Pass area.

Town says Search and Rescue has counseled the father on how to connect with more experienced riders.
