Four people including two children were taken by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center late Monday morning after a two-car collision at Northeast 29th Avenue and 219th Street, also known as state Highway 502.

About 10:30 a.m., Melanie L. Bruckelmeyer, 17, of Vancouver was driving south on 29th in a 2001 Dodge Stratus when she drove through the intersection without yielding the right of way, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

Courtney N. Slaughter, 24 of Vancouver was driving a 2010 Ford Escape east on 219th with the right of way when the two cars collided.

Bruckelmeyer and two children, ages 4 and 5, who were in her car were taken by AMR ambulance to PeaceHealth. She was listed in satisfactory condition on Monday evening; the names of the children and their medical conditions were not available.

Bruckelmeyer was ticketed for alleged failure to yield the right of way, the bulletin said.

Slaughter was treated at PeaceHealth and released, a hospital employee said.
