LA PINE, Ore. (AP) -- Authorities say a 17-year-old boy has been detained on suspicion of posting a threat on social media to shoot other students at La Pine High School.
The Deschutes County sheriff's office says the 17-year-old boy was picked up before classes began Monday.
Officials say the high school is secure and holding classes as usual.
The sheriff's office said that despite a social media post about bringing a gun to school and shooting students, an investigation so far hasn't shown the student took "any substantial step" to carry out the threat.
A statement from the sheriff's department says deputies are questioning a second 17-year-old boy who isn't considered a suspect but does have information.
