KENMORE, Wash. (AP) — One person was killed and two injured in a head-on collision on Highway 522 Tuesday morning in Kenmore.
King County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cindi West says one car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming car.
She told KOMO Radio the roadway was slushy at the time from snow, but it’s uncertain if that was a factor in the collision.
The accident blocked westbound lanes and all but one eastbound lane.
The Transportation Department says traffic has increased on the highway — as an alternate route between Seattle and the eastside — since tolling began in December on the Highway 520 floating bridge.
