SEATTLE (AP) — A King County sheriff’s spokeswoman says a 21-year-old man last seen near a suburban Seattle waterway after fleeing from a bail bondsman has been found dead in about eight feet of water.

Sgt. Cindi West says deputies spoke Tuesday with a woman who was with the unidentified man when he ran Monday night. That woman says he later phoned her and told her to meet him on the other side of the Sammamish Slough (slew) in Kenmore. He never showed up.

West says neighbors called 911 Monday night after hearing splashing and a man yelling for help in the water. Deputies and divers searched Monday night but couldn’t find him. The body was located shortly after noon Tuesday.

West said she didn’t know what the man was wanted for.
