BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A 1-year-old boy who was found not breathing Friday at a Bellingham women’s shelter was reported in critical condition at a Seattle hospital.

Police say the toddler was discovered when officers checked on the mother after receiving reports she might be using drugs.

The Bellingham Herald reports (http://is.gd/e53Vd1 ) the boy lived with his mother at Dorothy Place, transitional housing operated by the Opportunity Council for women who are homeless or victims of domestic violence.

The boy was flown to Harborview Medical Center and was reported in critical condition Monday in intensive care. The mother was jailed for drug court violations.
