A private cleanup company mopped up a diesel fuel spill on Southeast Columbia Way overnight Wednesday.
The spill was first reported at 2000 S.E. Columbia Way about 9 p.m. The Vancouver Fire Department's Engine 1 responded to the spill with HazMat gear.
Capt. Kevin Murray said a truck driver was filling up at a self-service station and a malfunction caused the spill.
The spilled fuel was in a 30 foot by 12 foot area, Murray said.
Vancouver Oil Company called a contractor to mop up the fuel, thought to be about 20 gallons, and the state Department of Ecology has been notified, Murray said.
