Meadow Homes — The Clark County Dining for Women chapter recently celebrated its first anniversary of raising funds for grassroots organizations supporting women and girls living in extreme poverty in developing countries. The chapter meets on the second Tuesday of the month for a potluck dinner and presentation about a nonprofit group that has been selected by the national Dining for Women program, which has more than 250 chapters. Instead of dining out, participants share dinner and contribute what they might have spent in a restaurant. In 2011, the Clark County chapter raised more than $12,000, with funds supporting programs that foster access to health care, education and economic self-sufficiency in India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Mali.
