KALAMA, Wash. (AP) — Police in the southwest Washington city of Kalama say a homeowner wrestled briefly with a would-be burglar shortly before police made an arrest.
Police Chief Randall Gibson said no one was hurt Tuesday afternoon.
The Daily News of Longview reports (http://is.gd/zx0uNo ) that a witness called police after seeing someone break into a shed at a home. The witness also called the homeowner, who was at a nearby restaurant. Gibson says the homeowner rushed to the house and found a man leaving with his nailer and power saw.
The chief says the two tangled briefly on the ground before the intruder fled, leaving the tools behind.
Police arrested a man a few blocks away.
Police say 44-year-old Michael Clifford Tompson of Columbia City, Ore., was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail for investigation of second-degree burglary.
