GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinian witnesses say a militant and a 12-year-old boy have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military confirmed one airstrike early Sunday and had no immediate comment on the report of a second.

Israeli police say three rockets fired from Gaza landed in southern Israel overnight and Sunday. No injuries were reported.

The deadliest clashes between the two sides in over a year have entered their third day showing no signs of subsiding.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says there is no point in Israel’s launching a large-scale military offensive in Gaza without setting the objective of toppling the militant Hamas regime there.

He wouldn’t tell Israel Radio whether such an operation was planned.
