Letter: Elections limited to those in power

What kind of high-handed political shenanigans goes on in Olympia? Suspending the 2012 presidential primary election? Hmm, let me see now … what countries have we heard wherein the ruling parties cancel elections because they want to shut out opposition parties?

If the presidential primaries are going to be suspended, they had better allow all other candidates to run in the general elections, if they can get 1 percent signatures on petition.

When there are primaries, I also think it unfair to rule out candidates who get more than 30 percent vote but don’t win, from being able to run in the general elections.

Our two-party system is hardly better than the one-party systems in communist and socialist states anymore. It’s all about power and money. Read Tacitus, the Roman historian, and see if you don’t see the parallel between the decline and fall of their society and ours.
