Watabe holds off Kokslien for Nordic combined win

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Akito Watabe of Japan won a Nordic combined World Cup event Friday, ahead of Mikko Kokslien of Norway.

Watabe finished with a time of 26 minutes, 21.4 seconds, beating Kokslien by 7.9 seconds. Bernhard Gruber of Austria finished third.

Overall World Cup leader Jason Lamy Chappuis of France finished 23rd, but still has a 72-point lead over second-place Watabe with just one race remaining.
