JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 in his return following a bout with the flu, and Kolten Wong singled in the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning as a St. Louis Cardinals split squad beat the Atlanta Braves 5-4 on Monday.

Beltran singled in the third and seventh innings, swinging at the first pitch both times.

The teams combined to walk 20 players. Atlanta starter Brandon Beachy issued five of the Braves’ 12 walks. Atlanta is 1-10 this spring.

After a smooth first inning, Beachy’s command faltered in the second. He allowed one hit and three walks, including Erik Kamatsu to bring in the Cardinals’ first run. Beachy walked to more in the third.

Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia allowed one run, three hits and two walks. Only 21 of his 40 pitches were strikes.
