SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane police say a 12-year-old boy on his way to school for his job as a morning crossing guard was hit by a truck and rolled more than 60 feet through an intersection.

The boy was hospitalized Monday in stable condition with internal injuries and broken bones.

Officer Jennifer DeRuwe says the boy was in a crosswalk.

DeRuwe says the 30-year-old driver was arrested after police found meth, heroin and marijuana in the truck. Police say he was not impaired at the time of the accident.

Police say the driver is a felon, making it illegal for him to possess the two firearms found in the truck.
