OSLO, Norway (AP) -- Norwegian cross-country star Petter Northug has pulled out of the World Cup finals this week because of a stomach infection.
Northug hasn't competed since he became ill at the end of February, and lost his second place in the overall World Cup standings last weekend to Canadian Devon Kershaw.
Norway coach Trond Nystad says Northug hasn't been able to train properly because of the infection and isn't ready to compete.
Dario Cologna of Switzerland holds an unassailable lead in the men's standings heading into the four-stage World Cup finals in Stockholm and Falun this week.
