PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — Miguel Olivo hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth inning, and Jesus Montero ripped a two-run double in the seventh to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 6-4 win over the Texas Rangers on Monday.

The late offense came after Seattle starter Blake Beavan, a former Rangers prospect, lasted five innings in his longest start of the spring. He allowed two runs and three hits, including Nelson Cruz’s home run.

Olivo homered against Rangers closer Joe Nathan, who was responsible for all three runs. Nathan walked two, struck out one and gave up two hits in one inning.

Beavan, hoping for a spot on the major league pitching staff, threw 64 pitches. He also gave up Michael Young’s two-out RBI double in the fourth. David Murphy homered in the seventh off Shawn Camp.

Rangers starter Matt Harrison allowed his first run of the spring and three hits in three innings.
