Spurs G TJ Ford says he is retiring

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- San Antonio Spurs guard T.J. Ford says he is retiring, effective immediately.
The 28-year-old Ford said Monday that he has suffered a series of neck and spine injuries during his eight-year NBA career. The most recent was a neck "stinger" on March 7 vs. New York.
Ford said he was contemplating retirement, then tweeted that he is indeed retiring "as of today."
