BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) -- Ten friends of a Western Washington University student are being treated with antibiotics after it was confirmed he has a meningococcal infection.
The Bellingham Herald reports (http://is.gd/lk9xlM ) the student was hospitalized over the weekend and a lab test Monday confirmed the disease.
The university says no other cases have been identified, and those who had casual contact with him, such as sharing a class, are unlikely to get meningitis.
