JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars and defensive end Jeremy Mincey have agreed on a four-year contract, filling one of the team’s most pressing needs.

Mincey agreed to terms early Wednesday, after spending several hours on the open market. The Chicago Bears tried to sign the free agent pass rusher, but he ultimately chose to stay in Jacksonville. His deal reportedly includes $9 million guaranteed and could max out at $27.2 million.

“Chicago!!! what a great organization,” Mincey posted on his Twitter page. “But, Gene Smith fought for me in a Very Tough fight….PROUD TO BE A JAG!! DUUUVALLL!!!”

Mincey had a career-high eight sacks last season, and the Jaguars made it clear they wanted to re-sign the 28-year-old end they believe will develop into an elite pass rusher.
