LOS ANGELES (AP) — Three-time champion Levi Leipheimer’s new team, Omega Pharma-Quickstep, is among 16 elite squads invited to the Tour of California in May.

The newly restructured RadioShack-Nissan-Trek team of defending champion Chris Horner, Jens Voigt and current U.S. road national champion Matthew Busche is also in the field.

Other teams include BMC Racing, the team of defending Tour de France champion Cadel Evans; the Rabobank team of Laurens Den Tam and Luis Leon Sanchez; Tour of California stage winner Peter Sagan’s Liquigas-Cannondale; and the new Australian team GreenEDGE Cycling of Robbie McEwen.

The teams were announced Tuesday. Full rosters will be announced later.

The Tour of California begins May 13 in Santa Rosa, and will cover more than 750 miles before the final stage on May 20, which will start on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
